This christening gown has a pin tucked yoke with French lace insertion along the bottom edges of the front and back yokes. The neck is edged in gathered ecru French edging. The sleeve is full length with a gathered lace sleeve ruffle attached to entredeux beading. The sleeve cuff has double sided satin ribbon.
The skirt of this gown has three bands consisting of Swiss embroidered insertion with ecru French lace on either side. In between each of these bands are two pin tucked bands. The bottom ruffle is a 5 inch wide Swiss embroidered edge.
The center skirt front above the bands has a hand embroidered design consisting of bullion roses, leaves, and French knots. Centered within the design is a hand embroidered satin stitched initial. The embroidery may be completed in muted pastels (as pictured), pastels, or in all ecru thread.
This gown is constructed in white Swiss batiste. The gown has a built-in liner (slip) which is edged in ecru French lace applied flat.
All seams are French seamed.
Mother of pearl buttons may be added to the back closure or left without buttons for the use of beauty bar pins. (pictured with buttons)
As with all my dresses and christening gowns, the skirt, liner, and sleeves are hand rolled and whipped and constructed together by hand. Every attention is given to following traditional French hand sewn techniques to ensure the highest quality item to passed down and preserved for generations.
